MUSIC CHATS

What Your Vision Looks Like

Whether you're a singer, songwriter or multi-instrumentalist looking to take your music to a higher level, music videos and graphic design are key components that can amplify the impact of your art. MusicACT is hosting a free event for musicians and industry workers on how to bring visuals to their creative vision through music videos and graphic design. Join Artist/Designer Josh Garrard and Music Video Director Ash Gray for this month’s Music Chats to give you the confidence and tools needed to use visuals, and bring your music to an even wider audience.

Ash Gray is an award-winning filmmaker whose passion for visual storytelling explores the human condition, drawing metaphor in the fantastical, combining abstract concepts with a dark imagination.

Her music videos and short films have featured in a variety of national and international film festivals including The London International Music Video Awards, Athens International Film Festival, Rome Music Video Awards, Berlin Lift-Off Festival, Clipped Music Video Festival, and the Canberra Short Film Festival to name a few highlights. Several of these projects received notable accolades, including honourable mentions, finalist placements, and awards for best music video, best film, best director and best screenplay.

Ash has also captured a number of live performances and studio session videos, working as part of the creative team for the Canberra chapter of Sofar Sounds and The Maneki Sessions.

Ash is always excited to meet fellow creatives and collaborate to help other artists emerge and bring daydreams into reality.

Josh Garrard is an artist/designer and a born-and-bred Canberran, with experience in illustration, animation, creative direction, and brand identity.

Josh has been operating in our beloved capital’s music scene and beyond for almost three years. In that time, he’s added his own personal flair to a multitude of projects with artists such as Moaning Lisa, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, Sputnik Sweetheart, ARCHIE, Slow Dial, and Neko Pink.

He is a huge believer in Canberra’s creative potential, and above all strives to achieve authentic expressions of artistic visions, no matter the project. He also hates writing his own bio. How meta!
