DIGITAL PROGRAM

How to Create an Engaging Social Media Content Strategy

A musician should never just talk about one thing (music). People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it. Your fans are invested, because they invested in you, which means sharing how you view the world with them as a way of drawing them further into your personal story. Artists who only share news about their music or merchandise run the risk of giving the impression that they are one-dimensional, and further, that they are only capable of one conversation (themselves). We can all agree this doesn’t sound very engaging, or interesting.

Dayna Young is a strategic marketing resource for musicians and brands, with a focus on artist development in the digital age. Her clients have included artists such as ZZ Ward, Mipso, Crooked Colors, Client Liaison, Miami Horror, PhaseOne, ShockOne, and Paces. She has worked with brands including EDM.com and Ministry of Sound and has toured artists such as Axwell, Ingrosso, Z-Trip, and James Brown. She’s also produced video content featuring The Chainsmokers, Alison Wonderland, and Kaskade. Her client work spans a range of genres including indie, alternative, electronic music, folk, dance, and pop. Ultimately, what gets her out of bed in the morning is the knowledge that she’s creating opportunities for artists.

Dayna will join MusicACT for a series of webinars and coaching sessions, tailored to explore how artists can build their digital profile and presence. In this session on ‘How to Create an Engaging Social Media Content Strategy’ Dayna will share the creative approach artists can take to bring a more multi-dimensional voice to the table when planning their social media content strategy.
