ACT Spotlights Live Music with Revolutionary Gig Guide in National First

A true win for musicians and venue-owners alike, Canberra’s “What’s On? Lot’s On” (WOLO) campaign will spotlight live music in the Nation’s Capital over the next 4 months.

The centerpiece Gig Guide puts power and autonomy back in the hands of Musicians and Venue-owners in a national first.

“Making gig information accessible is incredibly important, especially as we come out of a pandemic. What’s different about this gig guide is that gig listings are unaffected by advertising. Is filterable by time, genre, artist, location, you name it, and we expect this to connect audiences with venues and artists like never before.” - Billy Bianchini - Program Manager, MusicACT

Supported by the Australian Government through its Live Music Australia fund, iconic Canberra BMA Magazine and Canberra’s peak Music body, MusicACT - this intersection of key stakeholders has created an equal, accessible platform to increase the local and national visibility of Canberra’s thriving music scene.

WOLO, launching Friday 12 November, will drive the re-emergence of Canberra live music from its recent lockdown.

Canberra’s music scene has been simmering in the creative crucible for the past 2 years. Now, with the highest vaccination rates nationwide,  the ACT welcomes a reclamation of its vibrant music scene.

“The ACT music scene is truly unique. For a region with under 500,000 people, there’s such diversity and so many passionate musicians and industry workers. It’s inspiring, and I expect  that this campaign will show that to the rest of the country.”  Billy Bianchini - Program Manager, MusicACT

The accessibility of this gig guide is unprecedented. Not only is gig information crowdsourced from venue owners, but musicians themselves can submit gig information simply by scanning the ubiquitous QR code, scattered throughout the city throughout the promotional campaign.

“I think the fact that we’ve been able to produce something like this is a real testament to the strength of the ACT entertainment community. Venues, audiences, artists, publications, the government, and peak bodies like us have all pulled together to make this happen, and we look forward to measuring its lasting effect on our thriving scene.” - Billy Bianchini, MusicACT

Launching Friday 12th November, the “What’s On? Lot’s On.” Campaign is a much-needed injection of optimism, celebration and accessibility. Bringing together the community, musicians and venue owners alike all in pursuit of a single shared goal: to enjoy live music once more.
